What our patients say about us
Do you have questions about your eye health?
Why do I see blurry or with tired eyes even though I wear glasses?
This is a very common question. We all think that having glasses guarantees we’ll always see well; however, there are some causes of vision changes, such as changes in the prescription of eyeglasses, dry eyes, eye strain, or cataracts.
How often should I get an eye exam?
Almost no one knows the recommended frequency of eye exams. People often think they only need them when they “see poorly or feel something,” when ideally, they should have at least an annual checkup or as recommended by a doctor, depending on the findings of the initial exam. Remember that simply adjusting your glasses prescription isn’t enough.
What is the difference between an ophthalmologist and an optometrist?
This is perhaps the biggest mystery in our field. Many patients don’t know whether to make an appointment with “the glasses guy” or “the doctor,” or which one handles eye surgeries or diseases. An optometrist studies ways to correct refractive errors through glasses, contact lenses, and other methods; an ophthalmologist is a surgeon who specializes in the comprehensive management of eye diseases, both anatomically and functionally, and is the one who performs surgery when necessary. However, both are complementary in the care of your visual health.
Does screen use damage your eyesight?
It’s one of the most frequent concerns among young people and adults who work in front of computers, and a common way to get their family members to put down their screens. They want to know if fatigue or blue light can cause permanent damage. But the answer is no; it’s a myth, as the latest reports confirm.
Can I have surgery, so I don´t have to wear glasses?
Refractive surgery generates a lot of curiosity, and this question is on the minds of everyone who is tired of wearing glasses or contact lenses. The truth is that, after undergoing some evaluation, the majority of people may be suitable candidates for one of the refractive surgery options, such as corneal laser surgery, phakic lens implantation, or refractive surgery with intraocular lens implantation.
At Retinova, we combine innovation, experience, and a human touch to offer you comprehensive eye care in Cartagena.
